• Understand the proper use of expressions there is/ there are in the present in the different sentences. 

• Understand the proper use of expressions there was/ there were in the past in the different sentences. 

 Unit 3. Past Simple

The purpose of this unit is to use vocabulary and idiomatic expressions related      to the new and 
to uneventful everyday activities.

  Use there is/ there are to show that objects/ 

people/ events exist in the present.

  Use there was/there were to show that objects/people/events existed in the past.

Reading on the subject

   Unit 3.4. What's on the news?

  In the reading a dialogue is made between Peter 

and Gina, where they want to  know what is happening now so they decide to turn on the televisión.  

 After a while of listening, they decide to turn 

of the tv. They conclude that people do stupid

 things to enter the guinness book of records 

and to put their name on the news, too, 

apparently.
